Pet owners who have both cats and dogs know that the stereotype of dogs bullying cats is entirely wrong. It is cats who are primarily the aggressors in the often troubled relationship between these two species. Cats love asserting their dominance over larger dogs and the following 35 pictures prove just how good they are at doing so.
Kittens Frighten Big Doggo
It’s likely that the kittens in this picture were just curious about the big old dog. They probably just wanted to see if they could sleep on his big spacious back or tummy. To the dog, however, maybe it appeared as though he was being surrounded by a vicious pack of tiny but ferocious lions. He clearly did not feel safe sharing the floor with them.
It’s Time To Wake Up!
It appears that 3 pets were all sharing a bed in the moments just before this photo was taken. Then at one point the cat decided the best place to be would be sitting on the chest of one of the sleeping dogs. Either that or the cat is a feline dentist and just wanted a better look at the dog’s teeth.
I’m Not Sure I Want To Go Upstairs Anymore
This photo makes me wish so badly we had the ability to read dogs’ minds. Poor guy was just going about his daily life, about to walk up the stairs when he discovered an obstacle in the way. You can tell this dog is quite nervous about what may happen when they attempt to walk up the last two steps. You’re likely getting jumped on buddy, either accept it or find another way up stairs.

All Food Is Cat Food
Don’t you just want to hug this little pupper and open up a fresh can of food for them? The look they are giving to the camera as this sneakly little feline steals a helping of dog food is priceless. “But, but, that’s my food!” They are clearly waiting for some nice human to correct this blatant injustice.
Get Off My Bed, Cat!
This poor pupper has had his bed stolen by a sneaky cat. It’s not as though the dog can fit in their bed so this is pretty unfair. The dog’s anguish was captured succinctly in this photo. The dog likely knows they could just chase the cat of their property but that’s now how a good family should operate.
Why Is My Bed Smaller Than Their Bed?
As has been established in previous photos, cats enjoy stealing from dogs. Be it food or just a bed, cats enjoy having what is supposed to go to a dog. Clearly, the smaller bed area in this photo is designed for the cat and the larger area the dog, but what a clever cat wants, a clever cat takes.
Your Face Belongs To Me Now
No one knows how long this cat lurked in the shadows waiting to attack. It is clear based on their reaction, that the dog here was caught completely off guard by this vicious and ferocious mauling, however. It doesn’t look like the cat is biting down hard enough to cause pain, just hard enough to let everyone know who’s boss.
Please Stop Petting Me, Cat!
This cat may have just decided that they wanted to pet this doggo just like they’ve seen humans do. It does not look as though the dog pictured here is enjoying the experience too much, however. The cat’s claws may cause the experience to be somewhat less pleasurable than when a human does it.
Poor Big Dog Can’t Get A Moment’s Peace
This poor dog probably just wanted a few minutes of peace and quiet. What they got instead was a cat jumping on their back and biting at their face. It almost looks as though the cat is trying to make sure the dog can’t close their eyes and take a nap. It’s clear the cat is the boss of this relationship and they decide when napping can occur.
Guard Cat Prevents Dog From Entering Home
The cat here has come up with a perfect way to prevent the big dog from entering the home. All they do is just sit in the doorway blocking the entrance. You can tell from the dog’s face that even though they are much bigger, the cat has some type of hold on them. They are certainly hesitant to enter the house.
Dog Frightented To Be In The Same Room As Head-Swatting Cat
The story here is the leashed-cat in the photo swatted at the dog’s head once and now the dog does not want to be around the cat. You can even see the cat is attached to a leash in the photo but the dog doesn’t even want to be near them. They are huddled up by the door hoping that someone will open it and free them from this torture.
Feline Godzilla Prepares To Attack
The cat in this photo is named “Zilla” after Godzilla, the gigantic lizard that has destroyed whole cities. Lots of animals make themselves appear big to scare off any would-be predators. It’s not clear if the dog here is intimidated or scared, perhaps just interested in this confident young thing.
Cats Enjoy Dog Bones Too!
If you are looking for cat treats in a pet store, you won’t find bones similar to what are available for dogs. That’s because cats aren’t supposed to be that into bones. Cats love taking what is supposed to be for dogs, however, so this cat got themselves a bone. All the dog can do is whimper and whine in the background.
Feed Me First, Human!
The cat in this photo is sitting on top of the dog’s food dispenser. This then forces the owner of both the cat and the dog to feed the cat first. This is just a clever cat who figured out how to get their food sooner, although this is hardly fair to the dog. Cats are not concerned with fairness, however.
Please, Just Let Me Pass In Peace!
Have a good long look at the dog’s face in this photo. That is a face full of dread and worry. What will happen to me if I try to walk past the cat? Will they swipe at me? Jump on me? It might be best just to stay upstairs.
I Am Currently Unable To Get Downstairs
This dog’s owner was calling for her to come downstairs. The normally obedient dog didn’t obey the order, however. When the dog’s owner went to check on the problem, she found that one of the steps had been replaced by a cat. Clearly, chasing the cat away was not an option the dog was willing to pursue. Standing on the step and whimpering until a human takes care of the problem was the strategy they opted to go with instead.
Karate Cat Attacks Unsuspecting Dog
Cats are pretty much the most unpredictable animals there are. This cat here appears to have spent a considerable amount of time practicing Karate. They are seen here practicing a jumping high kick on this unsuspecting pupper. This is why so many dogs are afraid of much smaller cats.
I Heard You Were Looking For A Dog Sitter
It can be so hard to find a good pet sitter these days. This cat appears to be applying for the job, however. Just look how great they sit on the pet dog in this photo! Cats have problems respecting the personal space of others, especially when others look like they make a comfy chair.
Cat Becomes Alpha Dog Of The House
There can be only one alpha dog, and in this home, it’s the cat. This feline has wrestled down a pupper and asserted themselves as the alpha of the home. In this photo, the cat is sort of staring out beyond the camera as if to say, “if anyone else tries me, this could be you.”
Oh, You’re Back
This photo is of a dog looking super happy to have come back home from the groomers. In the distance, however, a cat is far less thrilled about their return. Perhaps the cat was thinking they would have the place to themselves permanently and are now giving them the evil eye to show their disappointment.
Cat Caught Smothering Dog
As many cat owners will attest, a cat’s objective 99% of their waking hours is finding a comfortable place to sit or take a nap. If you are having trouble finding the dog in this photo, they are underneath the mound of blankets the cat is turning into a makeshift bed. Dogs can serve as comfortable places to sleep, and cats are all too aware of this.
Cat Urinates In Dog’s Food Bowl
The rivalry between cat and dog in this household has been taken up a notch. The photo you are looking at is of the dog’s food dish right after the cat urinated in it. We’re not sure what this feline power-move means but we’re certain the dog will not be pleased with it.
Let Me Pierce Your Ear, Dog!
Dogs sometimes look completely helpless. As if they have tried everything they can to fix a situation but they are all out of options. Cats never look like that. They are always in control. In this photo, the dog is just letting the cat do what they are going to do and it looks like they are trying to pierce their ear!
Cat Performs Sneak Attack On Senior Dog
We love our senior dogs. They don’t move around as fast but they are very loyal. Cats are less respectful of senior dogs, however, and are less likely to give them the peace and quiet they’ve earned. Below is a devious cat caught in the act of a sneak attack on this poor older pup.
Cats Thinks He’s A Dog, Dog Is Not Impressed
Dogs have a hard time fitting in a cat carrier but cats can fit in dog carriers just fine. Doesn’t this feline look happy and content to have such a larger carrier to sit in? The dog is not so impressed.
Please Someone, Make The Cat Move
You have to feel for the dog in this photo. They were all done playing outside and likely just wanted to come inside for a nice nap. A significant obstacle is in their path, however. Walking past this cat likely means being swatted at, jumped on, or something else entirely.
These Stairs Are Mine, All Of Them
This young pupper has learned that its best to check and see if the stairs are clear before walking down them. As this photo was being taken, the steps were not clear. The dog is clearly hesitant to walk down the stairs no matter what dog treats, walks, or belly rubs may await them below.
If I Don’t Make Eye Contact, They Can’t See Me
The dog in this photo is breaking out the stragegy of “If I cant’ see them, they can’t see me.” It’s clear the cat does see them, however, and aren’t going to let them pass. This dog better get comfortable in the kitchen because they aren’t going to be allowed to exit.
Let Me Help You Eat Faster, Dog!
We don’t necessarily know if the cat here had bad intentions or if they just wanted to help their dog buddy eat faster. Regardless, if you have a friend who sometimes pushes your head into your food while you’re eating, you might need to get better friends. This dog doesn’t get to choose who he lives with, however.
Cat Steals Bone From Dog
Cats make very good thieves. That’s where the term “Cat Burglar” comes from. If you are sneaky and can rob someone without them noticing, you must be a Cat Burglar. This poor dog fell victim to a very sneaky cat who just wanted to see what all this fuss about bones is about.
Kitten Subdues Vicious Dog
It is probably unlikely that the kitten in this picture has just finished proving their physical superiority over a much larger dog, but we’re going to pretend that is what happened anyway. Now hand over the cat nip, and I’ll let the dog go!
Cat Knows Dog Is Scared Of Her
There is an enitre story being told with just body language in this photo. The dog is clearly scared of this cat. The cat is reaching out with their claw as if to tell everyone who will see this image that this dog belongs to them. They are the boss of the relationship.
It Is Not Nice To Meet You
This cat and dog combo were just being introdcued to one another and the cat was less than concerned with making a good impression. The cat looks to be hissing at the dog, which is cat language for “You should go away right now!”
Attack In Progress
The below action shot provides a quick glance into what the world of pets can look like sometimes. This poor dog was probably just trying to roll around on the couch when a giant and ferocious lion like creature attacked. There is no peace and quiet when you live with a cat.
The Beginning Of 18 Years Of Being A Jerk
The kitten and puppy in this photo are getting ready to spend the next 18 years of their lives together. Before they begin that life, the cat just wanted to make sure the dog knows who is going to be the boss. Poor dog is just trying to get as far away from the cat as possible, but that’s going to be pretty hard to do when you live with them.
