What would you do if you made a call and realized that you were talking to Donald Duck?
Admit it, we all wanted to hang up on a telemarketer. But this man just made the telemarketer hang up on him. This grandfather from Alabama knew exactly what to do in moments like these and he did it so perfectly and in the most unexpected way possible.
Donald Sizemore and his wife got a call from a telemarketer, and so Donald claimed what all Donalds would claim – that he’s Donald, not Sizemore, but the duck.
Right when Sizemore started his pitch-perfect impression of one of the most famous ducks in animated history, his wife Gayle was there to record all of it. The telemarketer tried to confirm if she’s talking to Donald Sizemore, to which the 77-year-old confirmed that he is.
She would have continued with the call but it sounded like she was unsure herself as to whether she’s talking to the right person.
While Sizemore tried to engage the caller with his impeccable Donald Duck impression, they both knew that this phone call will get nowhere.
Donald Duck was introduced into the franchise in the 1930s when he appeared in The Wise Little Hen. Since then, he was best known for his explosive temper and his squawking voice that’s formally known as a buccal speech. Donald’s first voice actor, Clarence Nash, discovered this way of speaking when he was trying to mimic the voice of his pet goat Mary. Walt Disney interpreted this style of speaking as a voice of a duck, especially that it sounds like quacking human words.
No one knew back then that this iconic voice will become an unexpected tool to deal with unwanted phone calls.
In Gayle’s recording, Donald asks:
“Hewhoah? Hewwwwhoooooah, are you dhere?”
His wife Gayle shared the hilarious video on Facebook where it quickly became viral.
For just two weeks after it was first posted, the video was watched 9 million times.
He first discovered his voice talent when he was still young and has been doing the Donald Duck impression for around 70 years! Gayle said in an interview with Inside Edition that she first heard about his husband’s talent when they were out on their first date. On their 50th anniversary, Donald Sizemore even sang “I Love You Truly” to Gayle using his Donald Duck voice.
There’s also a video of Sizemore singing “Happy Birthday” to one of his grandsons and the little kid can’t just help but be amazed.
In the end, maybe after realizing that she was being pranked, the telemarketer finally hangs up, giving Sizemore the win.
Not really intending to ruin the caller’s day, he said in an interview with Inside Edition:
“Well, it was all good clean fun.”
