We tend to judge someone we totally don’t know based on their appearance. And we also know how awful it feels to be judged just based on how we look.
When John Lindo was about to perform with his partner, the audience probably had different initial reactions.
Seeing a man as tall and big as John Lindo, people would probably assume he’s not a great dancer.
His “body type” is not the typical dancer’s body and this made the crowd of a Champions Jack and Jill dance competition doubtful if he can pull off a swing dance number, let alone win first place in the said contest.
The audience didn’t know what they were about to see.
Behind his big frame and tall height, John Lindo is actually a seasoned and talented dancer. In fact, he’s been dancing for the past two decades and has been a popular figure in the West Coast Swing Circuit.
He has made quite a name for himself! But, in front of a crowd who does not recognize him, he may seem like an ordinary guy who seems unlikely to be a talented dancer.
He didn’t hesitate to show what he’s got!
Because he is a big guy, people usually think that he can’t dance because he doe not look like how a dancer “should” look like.
It’s always surprising for people to witness how graceful and talented this man can be once he takes over the dance floor.
He is certainly a force to be reckoned with!
In a video uploaded on YouTube back in 2010, John Lindo was caught on camera as he danced opposite swing dancer extraordinaire, Deborah Szekely.
It was a Champions Jack and Jill competition where they completed an exquisite swing dance number. The dance couple incorporated moves that show the classic West Coast Swing style that Lindo is best known for.
Every move that this pair makes is impressive!
The crowd can’t help but go wild as soon as the dancers, especially Lindo, zoned in and really showed what he’s got.
The big guy who looked like he can’t dance absolutely made them speechless with his incredible dance moves, footwork, and elegant dancing style.
He jived in completely with his dance partner, who danced perfectly in harmony with the talented man. Their number was definitely spectacular and Lindo was nothing short of a show-stopper!
Well, what did they expect from a consistent dance champion, right? He owned the stage and earned loud cheers from the audience, who are pleasantly surprised with this guy’s fabulous dancing chops.
A total champ!
Over the years, John Lindo has been dominating the dancing scene such as the Grand Nationals, U.S. Open, and Phoenix Champion of Champions finals. He’s not just any dancer!
No matter what his size is, this big guy is definitely a true champion and that fact was revealed in that Champions Jack and Jill. He and Szekely won first place, no less!
He is such a talented man.
Apart from his amazing dance moves, John Lindo is also busy promoting the art when he’s not busy nailing routines on the dance floor. He teaches dance and grace competitions as a judge.
He’s a legend and his work is known around the globe. And we should be thankful that we get to witness talent like his. I could definitely watch his performances over again.
