While the lamp you’re about to see may look like it’s filled with junk, it’s not.

It’s filled with someone’s childhood.

People were so moved by this incredible keepsake that it received more than 15 million views on Imgur.

This lamp was made by a mom.

A mom who saved every single piece of junk that fell out of her son’s pockets in the laundry.

She kept the rocks, the name tags, dollar bills, marbles, and race cars and turned them into a lamp which she presented her son Grant, who goes by justgrant2009 on Reddit, as a wedding gift.

“Growing up, whenever I left something in my pockets and put them in the dirty laundry, before she would wash things, she checked my pockets, and if she found anything, she put it in a glass jar on the top shelf in the laundry room,” Grant said in a Reddit post.

According to Grant, the items in the lamp became more interesting over the years.

The jar began with simpler items from his younger years, which were mostly sticks, rubber bands, and twist ties.

But then the jar began to be filled with more sophisticated toys like Pogs, a Gameboy game, a Magic School Bus McDonald’s toy, and Laster Quest scorecards.

Apparently, there are even some items from Grant’s college years.

“I will admit that there are a few items in there from my early 20s too, as like any lazy college student, I let my mom wash my clothes while staying at home from college between semesters. And clearly, my mom was still collecting my things,” he explains.

While this may seem like a strange wedding gift to some, Grant said it was “definitely the best gift I’ve ever received.”

He even got emotional when he received it on the night of his wedding rehearsal dinner.

Grant actually forgot about the jar until his mom brought out the lamp that night and explained to the dinner guests that she had been collecting his stuff over the years.

“I remember as a kid, wishing soooo hard that I could get some of the items back, but it was forbidden to even go near the jar. By the time I was old enough to be sneaky about it and get into it, I had just learned to accept that that was how it worked and I wouldn’t get those things back.”

When he was gifted the jar, the first thought in his mind was, “I’m going to get the jar!”

But his excitement was short-lived.

Even though he has possession of the jar, mom sealed the top of it so it can’t be opened.

He still loves it just the same.

Lots of people commented on Grant’s Reddit post that they would be stealing the idea and doing the same for their own children.

“My 3-year-old doesn’t use his pockets yet… so it’s the perfect time to start!” wrote one commenter.
