If the show Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? taught us anything, it’s that no, most of us are not smarter than a 5th grader. Or at least, we don’t know the same things as they do. It makes sense, kids these days tend to learn slightly different things than we did, and they’re education is much fresher so it’s easier for them to remember all the formulas and facts.
But I bet you expected the students of Harvard University to at least be as smart as a 5th grader.
That’s what the YouTube channel the minorities set out to see. I mean, Harvard University is one of the most prestigious schools in America, and many of its alumni go on to become world and industry leaders. Surely, they would be able to beat a 5th grader in basic facts, right?

There’s all kinds of intelligence out there, and many different ways to be smart. In terms of hard facts and knowledge, though, 5th graders have a really particular set of skills. You may or may not be able to keep up with them, and you may be surprised to see what happened when Harvard students took on the same challenge.
