3-year-old Christopher Ramirez spent four days alone in the woods before he was found five miles from his parents’ house. The little boy disappeared Wednesday night.

He went to chase a neighbor’s dog around 2 pm and that was the last time he was seen.

Christopher’s mom, Araceli Nunez, and his grandmother were too busy unpacking their food truck in the driveway of their home in Plantersville so they didn’t notice that the toddler vanished.

150 law enforcement officials from federal state and local agencies spread out to search the area for the missing boy.

The Homeland Security, Texas Rangers, and FBI joined in the search, organizing themselves into groups to comb the surrounding area in the hopes of finding Ramirez.

The almost-two square mile area of the Foxfire subdivision had other search and rescue teams scouring every nook and cranny possible. Search dogs, helicopters, and drones were utilized to make sure every part of the area was searched.

There was no evidence of foul play.

The good news is little Christopher was found on Saturday, around lunchtime, by a local who chose to remain anonymous. Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell said that Ramirez was “a bit dehydrated as well as hungry and in overall good spirits and healthy.”

“He was in good shape, for the most part. For the conditions being down in the woods … he’ll be the ultimate Army Ranger, Navy SEAL, Air Force when he [grows up], but he’s already passed the first test,” Sowell said.

No one knows how the boy managed to find himself so far from home, or how he was able to survive in the woods. This is one tough 3-year-old kid!

Christopher was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital in Woodlands for observation and further evaluation but not before he had a touching reunion with his mom. She was worried sick.

The man who found Christopher says it was God who told him to search for the boy. This happened after a bible study.

He found Ramirez after he heard a cry so he took the child in his arms and called the authorities.

“The kind and humble citizen that found Christopher was indeed a special and Guardian Angel that was in the right place at the right time. He is a humble and kind man that did not want his name mentioned.”

Sheriff Sowell shared.

“I had several good visits with him and thanked him for being there. He replied that God told him at Bible study yesterday evening to go look for him and he would find him. This morning the man did just that and the rest is a happy ending to this story.”

He continued.

Tim Miller is the founder and director of Texas EquuSearch. He admitted to losing heart with the search as this was just the second time that they had to look for a child so young in his 21 years of service.

“But God works amazing, I got goosebumps,” he said. “He works amazing. To see him and to hear that loud cry, sheriff, it was just unbelievable.”

Christopher was found wandering around FM 1486 north of Highway 249. He’s now with his family, happy and healthy, ready to go run and play. This time, stay close to home, Christopher!
